SATB chorus divisi and solo voices - Digital Download

SKU: BJ.1382

Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Sofia Söderberg. Sacred, Secular. Octavo. 12 pages. Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital #1382. Published by Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital (BJ.1382).

8.27 x 11.7 inches.

My interpretation of Harlig ar jorden - originally composed for the male voice choir Svanholm Singers - is a tribute to nature and to life. But it is also a reminder of the increasingly apparent threats and challenges posed by climate change.

The piece consists of three different musical and lyrical themes:
Theme no. 1 is Harlig ar jorden, a beloved hymn sung in Scandinavia. The second theme consists of quotes from an acclaimed 1854 speech made by Chief Seattle to Governor Isaac Ingalls Stevens that I set to music, a compelling plea to respect the rights of indigenous peoples and a well-formulated reminder that human beings are a part of nature, they are not its masters. The third theme is a fragment from a Swedish funeral prayer. - Sofia Soderberg

There is also a version for male voice choir.
