The ebb and flow of dynamics, constrasts of legato and marcato, a dramatic piano accompaniment, plus some unresolved vocal harmonies, allow for a series of emotions to be painted such as those experienced in the grief cycle.
From Canadian band Simple Plan, ‘Gone Too Soon’ was first released in 2011. The inspiration for the song was the tragic loss of so many talented artists, actors and musicians to drug overdoses or suicide. On the Simple Plan website, drummer Chuck Corneau explained: “We thought it was so sad to see so much talent being wasted. Also there were people in our family and some great friends we lost. So the song is a combination of all that. Yes the song is about missing someone who is gone”. Singer Pierre Bouvier added: “Hopefully this song can help people that are going through similar situations where they feel like someone in their family or one of their friends has gone too soon.”.
