This work is an homage to the longstanding friendship between Germany and Austria. During the piece the composer depicts the highs and lows of the relationship through history but emphasizes the positive aspects of the strong bond between the two countries. The bright and colourful instrumentation is a kind of musical metaphor for the positive, forward-thinking spirit one should always keep.
Dit werk is een fraai eerbetoon aan de vriendschap tussen Duitsland en Oostenrijk. De componist beschrijft de vele mooie kanten die deze vriendschapsband met zich meebrengt, terwijl hij midden in het stuk (‘Reflective’) met een paar gevoelige maten ook stilstaat bij minder goede tijden. Verder legt hij het accent op het positieve aspect. De heldere, kleurrijke instrumentatie dient als een muzikale metafoor voor een optimistische, op de toekomst gerichte spirit.
Dieses Werk ist eine Huldigung an die österreichisch-deutsche Freundschaft. Der positive Charakter des Werkes soll die vielen schönen Seiten dieser Freundschaft beleuchten. Nur in der Mitte des Musikstücks (Reflective“) sind ein paar sentimentale Takte zu hören, die an verlorene Freunde und weniger gute Zeiten erinnern. Man sollte aber immer nach vorne blicken, die positiven Aspekte hochhalten und die Feste feiern, wie sie fallen.
Cette pièce a été écrite en hommage la longue amitié qui existe entre l’Allemagne et l’Autriche. Elle dépeint les hauts et les bas de leurs rapports travers l’histoire, mais souligne les aspects positifs des liens solides qui rapprochent les deux pays. Lumineuse et colorée, l’instrumentation est une sorte de métaphore musicale pour l’esprit ouvert et constructif que l’on devrait toujours privilégier.
