'The Foxhunter’s Reel' is a lively Irish reel that's great fun to play. It's well-known and loved and is played across the world in pubs, on stage and at Irish music sessions. It is a great reel for beginners and experts alike.
History: After being recorded in 1964, The Foxhunter’s Reel brought the Castle Céili Band to victory at the All-Ireland Fleadh in Thurles in 1965. Since then, this reel has become a standard in Celitic repertoires across the globe. Whilst it is sometimes published in A Major to make it easier for fiddlers to play, the key of G Major is better suited to other instruments commonly found in sessions.
