‘Four Chord Anthem’ is a fun, archetypal pop anthem, based on the ever- popular I - V - vi - IV progression. A simple, catchy melody (‘hook’ or ‘earworm’) is supported by an insistent, syncopated drum & bass groove. An interesting countermelody adds textural interest, while a ‘stomp and clap’ breakdown adds potential for audience interaction. By working on this piece, your band will build many fundamental skills, including: steady groove (pocket), basic syncopation, and variety of articulation. In summary: a fun, simple educational piece that will be thoroughly enjoyed by students, music teachers, and audiences alike!
