Composed by Elliot Del Borgo. String Music. Method book. Violin part. Published by C. Alan Publications (CN.16301).

This book provides a substantial amount of progressive material to develop and reinforce both reading and technical skills. The music is written to encourage strong, solid playing while dealing with well-balanced, musical exercises that move at a pace that retain the interest of the students with both familiar and new material that allows them to play and sound like 'real' players.

As with Book 1, this was written to provide music that will function: 1. As a method for the string teacher who has his or her own teaching concepts and simply wants accessible music for the students to play and read. This book seeks to reinforce each teacher's individual style without presenting contradictory or excessive pedagogical information. A BOOK FOR ALL TEACHING STYLES 2. As a folio of complete 2- and 3-part string orchestra pieces suitable for performance as young string players progress from the very earliest stages while giving them a sense of the expressive potential of sound. 3. As a way for Suzuki-trained students to develop reading skills that will complement their technical and aural skills in an ensemble setting. Book 2 contains more advanced materials that are carefully prepared to enhance both the musical and technical development of the students. There are many string orchestra pieces that can serve as performance material, if needed, and allow the students to sense their progress toward a mature sound. Once again, particular attention is paid to the development of viola and bass players so they may feel their importance in a full ensemble. The goal remains the same: to build pride and a sense of accomplishment by developing the sound of success at a measured pace with ample review and repetition. There are also creative exercises and notation studies in theory that will reinforce the learning process. The incorporation of familiar melodies and music from other cultures will extend the students' horizons. The pieces are in a variety of styles that will encourage both the production of a strong, solid sound and technical facility. Carefully constructed solfeggio exercises are included to sharpen the players' aural skills. Enjoy! Elliot Del Borgo.
