This mature sounding overture for young band opens with the bold and majestic writing that has made Swearingen’s music so playable. Following a short slow middle section which allows players the chance to develop phrasing and expression, this piece quickly returns to the original tempo and themes. Works well for bands with a limited instrumentation.
