Composed by Oscar Hammerstein and Richard Rodgers. Arranged by Christy-Lyn Dosé. Broadway,Folk,Musical/Show. Score. 9 pages. Learning the Harp #329270. Published by Learning the Harp (A0.720905).

Mid-intermediate for Big and Small harps. Edelweiss is a nostalgic song from the musical “The Sound of Music”. The Edelweiss flower represents love for the homeland of Austria, and there is a special moment in the movie where the captain rediscovers his love for music by singing this song with his children. Christy-Lyn’s harp arrangement captures the beautiful simplicity of the song, with enough variation and interest to make it a piece that you will want to keep playing again and again.

Difficulty Level and Skills Required: Mid-Intermediate: The left hand has a few different patterns that include 10th intervals and crossing under. There are quickly repeated notes in the melody which can be a challenge, but the fingering has been carefully chosen to help with this.

Type of Harp: Lever harps or pedal harp. The small harp version works for 26 string harps or larger, and the big harp version works for 33 string harps or larger.

Range: Small harp version – Lowest note is D below middle C. Highest note is E, two and a half octaves above middle C. Big harp version – Lowest note is G, an octave and a half below middle C. Highest note is E, two and a half octaves above middle C.

Levers/Pedals: It is in the key of D major, with C sharps and F sharps. There are no lever changes during the piece.

What's Included: PDF download of 4 pages. Fingering and bracketing are included.
