From the Operetta Der singende Traum. Composed by Richard Tauber. Arranged by Christiaan Janssen. Baton Music vocal series. From the Operetta Der singende Traum. Full Score and set of parts. Baton Music #BM870-SET. Published by Baton Music (BF.BM870-SET).Richard Tauber (1892-1948) was an Austrian-born British tenor and composer celebrated for his vocal work in opera and, especially, operetta. In 1913 he made his highly successful operatic debut, as Tamino in 'Die Zauberflöte' in Chemnitz. That performance resulted in a five-year contract with the Semper Oper in Dresden. Beginning in the 1920s Tauber's career emphasis shifted to light opera and operetta. He became a close friend of Franz Lehár, who provided him with some of his most successful roles. Although he was less successful as a composer, his operetta 'Der singende Traum' ran for eighty-nine performances after the premiere at the Theater an der Wien on 31 August 1934. The tenor solo 'Du bist die Welt für mich' became a timeless hit not least thanks to the recording Tauber made seven months later. Dutch arranger Christiaan Jannsen arranged this wonderful song for tenor and Symphonic Band.
