Did'n You by Frank Foster Big Band - Sheet Music
Big band (5 Saxes, 4 Trumpets, 4 Trombones, Guitar, Piano, Bass, Drums) - Medium to difficult

SKU: WA.51232

Composed by Frank Foster. Score and set of parts. Published by Walrus Music Publishing (WA.51232).

With the same harmonic structure as the late Dizzy Gillespie's Woody'n You, this song features tenor sax and piano. Following the intro and opening chorus the ensemble swings for half a chorus, then introduces the piano solo starting at the bridge. One full chorus of piano follows, then a sax-measure build up to the tenor sax, which takes over for the rest of the chorus, then two more. Late in the chart there are some short written tenor sax solo exchanges with the ensemble. Also at the very end, a four bar solo break (soloist may play optional written cues, or ad lib own ideas so long as they take it out aduquate fashion). After the soloist comes in to rest on a suitable sustained tone, preferably in the upper register, the director gives a downbeat for the ensemble's closing chord. Lead trumpet to high G4. 5/4/4/G/P/B/D.
