This piece incorporates those moments of "waiting"… as "We wait in joyous expectation". Notice several measures where phrases with "ritardando" that leave us a little time to ponder, then gives way to "a tempo", which brings a sense of longing and anticipation. The piece is in the key of Ab Major, just as the original was in 1830. It begins joyously with the first statement of the melody appearing in the left hand, then in the second statement, moves to the right hand for a more gentle, slightly syncopated version. Easily accessible for the Intermediate pianist.
