It is, for me, a step away from oboe works considered canon and a step towards playability, interest, and joy. This pieces is an entry way for the classical oboist into popular American rhythms and style and is a crowd favorite! The solo part appears to be very technical but does not push the boundaries of unnecessary virtuosity. The part stays in an accessible range for intermediate/advanced players.
