This colorful three-movement composition by Gilbert Tinner makes use of many popular rhythms and harmonies. Rock and samba styles, and a lyrical middle movement in 3/4 come together in this work, and are skillfully connected by means of a catchy theme. Due to its careful orchestration this composition can also be played by a band with an smaller contingent of players.

Deze kleurrijke driedelige compositie van Gilbert Tinner is opgebouwd uit populaire ritmes en harmonieën. Rock- en sambastijlen en een lyrisch middendeel in driekwartsmaat komen in dit werk samen en zijn kundig verbonden door middelvan een toegankelijk thema. Dankzij de eenvoudige maar effectieve instrumentatie kan deze compositie ook prima worden gespeeld met een onvolledige bezetting. Clash of the Styles is voor het orkest een ideaal werk om de genoemdemuziekstijlen te verkennen en om te laten horen dat het de ritmes uitstekend kan uitvoeren.
