A Christian Easter hymn, Christ the Lord Is Risen Today was written by Charles Wesley, co-founder of the Methodist Church. The hymn, previously titled "Hymn for Easter Day" appeared Hymns and Sacred Poems by Charles and John Wesley in 1739. It is well known for its many "Alleluias" after each line. It is used in churches as a traditional processional hymn on Easter Sunday.
