Recorded on Revival (ML.311057720). Full set. Duration 3 minutes, 55 seconds. Molenaar Edition #011818030. Published by Molenaar Edition (ML.011818030).An adagio is a slow piece of music, somewhat quicker as a largo, but a little bit slower than an Andante. A lot of composers have written adagios, but, no doubt, the most famous is the Adagio in G minor by Tomaso Albinoni (Venice, 1671-1750), originally composed for organ and strings. Yet this popular tune has been constructed from a manuscript fragment by the 20th century Italian musicologist Remo Giazotto (Rome, 1910). The composition is quite well suited for a wind band transcription and Willy Hautvast did it extremely well, with his usual talent.
