Newsies was written by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman in 2011 and made its Broadway debut a year later. It won a Tony Award in 2013 for best original score. It was also the fastest Disney musical to turn a profit on Broadway, recouping its investment in just 7 weeks. The show was performed over 1000 times on Broadway.
