By Glen Campbell. By Jimmy Webb. Arranged by Phil Thrift. Pop. Score and parts. 22 pages. Phil Thrift #793229. Published by Phil Thrift (A0.1193756).

By the time I get to Phoenix is a wonderfully evocative song that tells a little story. This arrangement has two distinct parts: The first, lyrical part reproduces the original song, is a chance to really exploit that warm trombone sound. The second part is an up-tempo variation on the song and represents a stark contrast to the first part, requiring fast, tight playing. As usual in my arrangements, each player has the lead at some point. And the bass trombone will need to drive that rhythm in the second part in particular, keep the whole thing together.
