Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) wrote the most famous lullaby in the world in 1868: "Guten Abend, Gute Nacht" ("Lullaby and Good Night").
Gloria Merle Huffman has added a simple left hand countermelody which follows the original harmonization by the composer. Fingering is included, as well as articulation signs (breath marks) to show where to let go of the last key in a group of slurred notes. This makes the points of differentiation -- where one hand lets go of a key while the other hand continues to hold its key down -- clearly visible. Each of these spots can easily be practiced in isolation, resulting in a flawless performance.
Six versions of Huffman's arrangement are included in this set: a one-page easy piano solo (in C major, E-flat major with accidentals, and E-flat major with key signature) and a two-page version (in the same three formats) with two verses in English and German.
For pianists learning to play in E-flat major, the suggested procedure is to learn the piece in C major first, learn it next in E-flat with the accidentals, then play it with the E-flat key signature.
