Composed by Neeck. Jazz Ensemble. Audio recording available separately (items CL.991-2001-01, CL.991-2001-02 & CL.WFR346). Score and set of parts. Composed 2001. Duration 4 minutes, 16 seconds. C.L. Barnhouse #031-3118-00. Published by C.L. Barnhouse (CL.031-3118-00).

A tasteful ballad solo feature for either Alto Sax or Trumpet (Flugelhorn) by the composer of "Just Before I Close My Eyes", "Ivory Moon", "Mister Nice Guy" and more. Wonderful for concert or contest performances and an exceptional teaching chart for young and mid-level bands. A real jewel!!

Blue Midnight for year 7 - 9 Big Band
This is a fantastic ballad for a young band who don't yet have the emotional capacity for a serious Jazz Ballad, but can relate to the Rock feel (think 13 year old drummers who can't use brushes well enough but have a strong time feel). The arrangement gives players the opportunity to get invested as all parts have moments of feeling epic and I particularly appreciated that the trombone parts had some melody and was not only playable but enjoyable for young students. The soloist can excel without having advanced technique and the demo recording was extremely helpful. A vibes part and aux percussion would be welcome as I had to write my own and possibly some additional parts for young non traditional ensembles (e.g. opt. French horn etc.) would be great. My band love funk and rock charts and usually complain about a ballad, but they really love this chart and feel a great sense of achievement performing it. Thank you
