SKU: SF.SEA-078-02

Composed by Elizabeth Alexander. Collegiate Repertoire, Community Chorus, Concert Music, Church Choir-Anthem. Seasonal-Spring, Sacred-Seasonal-Thanksgiving, Choral, Worship & Praise. Choral part. With Text language: English. Duration 8 minutes. Published by Seafarer Press (SF.SEA-078-02).

Text by Michael deVernon Boblett, adapted.

A warm and richly contrapuntal meditation on the true meaning of resurrection: that which returns and prevails despite persecution or death. This homage to a small but tenacious wildflower offers a dialogue between the grand and the humble, the temporal and the enduring. Available as a 5-minute a cappella piece, or as an 8-minute work for chorus and orchestra. Winner of the Athena Festival Almquist Award. (Programming Note: The orchestral instrumentation is identical to that of John Rutter's Faure Requiem, with the addition of a violin section and omission of the organ.)

Commissioned by Bethlehem Music Series; Maria Bucka artistic director (Minneapolis, MN) Winner: Athena Festival Almquist Award (a cappella version)
Programming Note: The orchestral instrumentation is identical to that of John Rutter's Faure Requiem, with the addition of a violin section and omission of the organ.
