Beginning Piano for Adults - Bastien
I have been teaching piano for over 50 years, using this book for a long time, and it is my favorite book for beginning adults and teenagers who are serious about learning.

Excellent for review
As a an adult who took piano lessons only in childhood, I found this book to be very rewarding. Successive units (chapters) cover progressively more advanced pianistic technique, while introducing the fundamentals of music theory to the point where the reader is equipped to handle simple chord modulations (unit 15). Carefully chosen examples, from folk songs and from the classical literature, illustrate most units. Information is conveyed succinctly and systematically, without fuss and without annoying visual distractions or recourse to popular songs. A valuable book.

Not for dummies
I was hoping for a book that I could sef-teach myself piano, like Piano for Dummies. This book is not it! This might be ok for adults who are working with an instructor, but not so good for those of us trying to work on our own. It is not user-friendly.
