Ballade for Piano was written upon moving from Israel to the United States, and it reflects some of the mixed feelings that one has when leaving one home behind and starting a new life somewhere else. The piece was a winner of the 2011 International Bicentennial Composition Competition of the American Liszt Society, and it has been consequently performed in US and Europe by pianist Paul Barnes.
