The venerable English pre-Reformation tradition of antiphon settings is here revived by a contemporary composer. Ave Regina Celorum/Alleluia was the first modern work to be specially written for Gothic Voices, experts in the performance of medieval music.
This setting of Ave Regina Celorum/Alleluia is the third of a cycle entitled Four Votive Antiphons Op. 7, based upon the four chants traditionally sung at Compline through the Church Year, for a vocal consort comprising mezzo-soprano (or countertenor), three tenors (or baritone for third tenor) and baritone.
Mezzo Soprano and Three Tenors.
