Ascensions is an aggressive concert or festival work of unbridled energy and power! Ascending melodic themes and harmonic structures create tension, and are the basis for this creative and interesting composition. The melodic material is memorable and is shared throughout the entire ensemble, creating interest for the performer and listener alike. Contemporary harmonies, contrasting styles, dynamics, textures and the aforementioned "ascensions" create a dramatic and fresh compositional approach. This is musical adrenaline and excitement at its best!

About C.L. Barnhouse Command Series

The Barnhouse Command Series includes works at grade levels 2, 2.5, and 3. This series is designed for middle school and junior high school bands, as well as high school bands of smaller instrumentation or limited experience. Command Series publications have a slightly larger instrumentation than the Rising Band Series, and are typically of larger scope, duration, and musical content.
