Ancient Rites is a suite of five short movements for three players using five flutes: piccolo, 2 C flutes, alto flute and bass flute. The music is full of memorable melodies and charming harmonic piquancy, picturing ceremonies from the deep past of Britain’s heritage in a beguiling and evocative way.
