Published by Molenaar Edition (ML.012647040-S).Charles Zimmerman (1862-1916) was 'bandmaster' at the U.S. Naval Academy during thirty years. He wrote his famous march Anchors aweigh at the request of the Academy's Senior Class in 1907. They asked him for a stirring inspiring march that could also be used as 'war song' for their (American) football team and ... that could also maybe remain popular for some time. This turned out to become true. Pi Scheffer's splendid swinging arrangement combining a Dixieland combo and symphonic band was a big success when recorded by the Marine Band of the Royal Dutch Navy and the Dutch Swing College Band.
