SKU: A0.921668

Composed by Chris Bandy. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 28 pages. Chris Bandy #3684809. Published by Chris Bandy (A0.921668).

Alone is a two-minute work for mixed chamber ensemble. It explores freely-composed twelve-tone rows, imitative polyphony, and harmony built on 4ths and 5ths. The first half of the piece uses syncopated, disjointed activity to reflect the carefree busyness of everyday life, and the second half uses dramatic harmonic shifts to express the feeling that when you lay down to rest, you are truly alone.

The PDF contains the score as well as all six parts: violin, alto saxophone, bass clarinet, cello, piano, and mixed percussion. The original percussion part includes a brake drum, 5 tin cans, 5 wood blocks, a large guiro, a small antique cymbal, a sizzle cymbal, and a marimba (at least 4.3 octaves). The unpitched percussion may be substituted as desired.

The MP3 is a live studio performance of the work.
