Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.575306

Composed by Josquin des Prez. Arranged by David Musgrove. Classical,Renaissance. Score and parts. 18 pages. David Musgrove #182977. Published by David Musgrove (A0.575306).

This setting of the moving Biblical text 'Absalon, fili me' ('Absalon, my son') was long attributed to Josquin des Prez (c. 1450-1521), but more recently is often reattributed to fellow Franco-Flemish Renaissance composer Pierre de la Rue. The two definitely met, and likely had an influence on each others' style, which has led to this lack of certainty of authorship. This arrangement keeps the original Latin lyrics in the trombone parts, which are intended to inform the performance of the music, in terms of phrasing and stresses. Note values are halved to suit modern notation. While technically relatively simple, sustained and well-phrased playing are the challenge here. Item number: DM 2809 MP3 sound file is produced from Sibelius.
