An Arrangement of Three Traditional Scottish Songs
For Mixed-Ability Guitar Ensemble (in Five Parts)
by Dan Jones
Arranged for The Cawsand Bay Guitarfest, September 2019
In arranging A Scottish Medley, I’ve taken three beautiful Scottish songs. The have been presented in a number of harmonisations, keys and given treatment with procedures of counterpoint in the forms of imitation and countermelodies.
The piece acts as a whole concert item. An Introduction and CODA have been created which act as structural ‘bookends’ to the work in A major.
Guitars 1 & 2 are suitable for players at about grade 6 level
Guitar 3 is suitable for players at about grade 2 level
Guitar 4 is suitable for players at about grade 1 level
Guitar 5 is suitable for players at about grade 5 level
