This work was commissioned by the Concordia wind band and the Écho male choir, based in Miège (Valais, Switzerland), to mark their respective centenaries. The piece is a sanguine sounding work entirely based upon variations in several keys of a main hymn. This creates a festive and ‘sprituoso’ atmosphere throughout this impressive, highly colourful and energetic work.

A Century of Music werd geschreven in opdracht van het blaasorkest Concordia en mannenkoor L’Écho beide uit Miège (Valais, Zwitserland) ter gelegenheid van het honderdjarig bestaan van beide gezelschappen. Het is een optimistisch klinkend werk dat is opgebouwd rond een centrale hymne, met fraaie variaties in verschillende toonsoorten. De sfeer van dit indrukwekkende, kleurrijke werk is dan ook feestelijk en levendig. Een compositie vol energie!

Dieses Stück wurde vom Blasorchester "Concordia“ und dem Männerchor "Écho“ aus Miège (Wallis, Schweiz) anlässlich ihrer 100-jährigen Jubiläen in Auftrag gegeben. Das Stück ist voller Hoffnung und basiert komplett auf Variationen über eine Hymne in verschiedenen Tonarten. Dies erzeugt eine festliche Stimmung, die sich durch dieses beeindruckende, farbenfrohe und energiegeladene Werk zieht.

Cette œuvre a été commandée par la Concordia (harmonie) et l’Écho (chœur d’hommes) de Miège (Valais, Suisse) l’occasion de leur centenaire respectif. C’est une pièce très positive, entièrement fondée sur des variations d’un hymne central dans diverses tonalités. Il en résulte un climat festif et spirituoso tout au long de cette œuvre impressionnante, énergique et haute en couleurs.
