Ron Babcock has composed and edited 50 amazing duets in alto clef for Trombones. These duets can be performed on Tenor or Alto Trombones and are a great way to ease into alto clef being that they are progressive. The goal of this book is to provide an enjoyable vehicle for learning and practicing in a new clef. Some of the duets are original compositions by Babcock and some are arrangements of Baroque and Classical composers.
Duets 1-30 are all one-page or less in length and duets 31-50 are all two pages in length. As the book progresses, there are more difficult key and time signatures, more challenging technique and in the later duets some cadenzas.
There is a wide variety of styles and forms throughout the book. The final six duets are arrangements of concertos and sonatas originally written for the Alto Trombone (the top part containing the original part), including works by Albrechtsberger, Fux, Wagenseil and Michael Haydn.
