Stronger……..Every Day is actually the motto of the rehabilitation center I attend twice a week for physical therapy. Their philosophy is simple: it's not the amount of progress you make each day, it's the total sum of all the small steps taken. Setting goals and perseverance is what is important.

The idea is actually universal: Take things one day at a time, stay consistent and you will meet your goals. It applies perfectly to playing a musical instrument. You practice each day, repeat exercises until they are mastered, and then move forward.

This piece is built upon a repeated eight-bar motif. In between these motifs are symphonic excursions, but always returning to the original motif. This represents the concept of practicing through repetition. The "excursions" are the new goals. Multiple syncopation and dynamics keep the music interesting for both the player and listener.
