By Noel Gallagher'S High Flying Birds. By Noel Thomas Gallagher. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 21st Century,Latin,Pop,Rock,Singer/Songwriter. Score and Parts. 51 pages. John Ivor Holland #880824. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1290118).‘Council Skies’ is the title track of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds' 2023 album of the same name, the fourth single to be released. Noel Gallagher reflects on his youth daydreaming under the stars on a council estate in Manchester, UK, where he grew up with his sibling and ex-Oasis bandmate Liam and their mum Peggy, who still lives in the same house; the strings on the album were recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London. As he himself puts it: “All the dreams I had as a youth were underneath council skies.” This delicious summery-slice of Latin-tinged pop is full of mellow harmonies and infectious rhythms, with maybe a dash of melancholy along the way, but will doubtless bring a smile as it winds its way to a soulful conclusion.
