Arranging, performing, recording and filming the Interstellar theme has been a dream of mine since I first watched the movie. This was one of the rare melodies that I wanted to record in a special setting. I felt that recording it in a home ambient just wouldn’t do this absolutely mesmerising piece justice, so, Ella and I decided to record it in a special room that reminded us of outer space in the Museum of Optical Illusions in Sarajevo.
The first time I heard the Interstellar theme, I honestly felt completely captivated by it and literally like I wasn’t currently on this planet, more so, with Matthew McConaughey and the rest of the crew in outer space.
Arranging this beautiful melody for the flute and piano was tremendously soul-fulfilling as with every played bar, the notes Hans Zimmer channelled through his mind onto paper, were now transforming throughout the wide-ranging palette of colours of the flute and the piano.
