Starting off as a fictional tale about the destruction of the planet we call home, the tone took a more serious turn with further writing of the music. Symphony No. 1’s message is ultimately about the world we live in, and to be warning to us who live in it to take care of and cherish our home. Furthermore, this music’s message extends even further for me personally. I am a firm believer in a sovereign creator, God, who created this world and everything it holds within. It is a steadfast belief of mine that we were not only just placed on this beautiful planet to use and call home, but to care for it, as it is our only habitat. It breaks my heart to see such destruction and desolation of the glorious nature the Earth contains, perfectly crafted by the Lord. Thus, I have written the work that sits before you and your ensemble today. Symphony No. 1 “Destiny of Man”. Destiny of man. What is man’s destiny? That is exactly what I aim to explore.
