Published by Lydia McCool (A0.1137214).This piano solo of later intermediate-early advanced arrangement is based on the performance of Michel Legrand of his song, Les moulins de mon cœur (The Windmills of your Mind from the movie The Thomas Crown Affair), with original materials composed for introduction, interludes and ending to the music. It is in the key of F minor. The introduction features a cadenza-like passage and transition into the familiar melody. This piece teaches the playing of rubato and playing various textures of accompaniment. It takes a player of substantial artistry to interpret the ad lib passages musically. This will greatly prepare students for playing Chopin and romantic era music where rubato is a must. It makes a great performance piece for recitals, and adds great enjoyment for pianists who enjoy the challenge of a substantial arrangement of Michel Legrand’s beautiful melody.
