Opus/Catalog Number: K.94 IWM 299
Key/Tone: D major
Movements/Sections: Menuet
Year/Date of Composition: c.1769
Difficulty: Grade 4/12 (Intermediate)
Obs.: Also known as Minuet in Canon, this piece features an ABA' musical form: The two-part canonical texture of sections A and A' contrasts nicely with the three-part trumpet texture of section B.
Wolfgang composed this minuet in Salzburg in 1769 or 1770, when he was approximately fourteen years old. In measures 10 to 12, in the right hand, the lower notes may be played one octave higher, as is suggested in this sheet music. Also, all bracketed slurs and staccato marks are editorial, as they do not appear in the source.
