Published by David Banney (A0.1099397).The Missa Pace is a vibrant and colourful setting of the Latin Mass for SATB choir and organ (piano), or, in its original version, for SATB choir, strings and organ. The Latin texts are supplemented with additional English texts by Naomi Johnson. The Missa Pace was composed for the 2022 Newcastle Music Festival, and premiered by the Festival Choir and the Newcastle Strings in Christ Church Cathedral in August, 2022. The 2022 Festival was the first Newcastle Music Festival since 2019 - the previous two planned festivals having been interrupted by COVID. And the festival took place in a time of upheaval and strife - as much of the world emerged from the worst of the pandemic lockdowns, we faced a new crisis, namely, the war in Ukraine. Thus, this Mass was composed in a time of conflict, anxiety and uncertainty, and the theme of peace seemed to be of great importance.
