There is a solid performance from the band which goes to a Latin blast in the middle - returning to the groove tempo at the beginning. The tempo is important in as much as it has to be slow enough for the bass solo at the beginning, and yet fast enough to make an exciting Latin feel at bar 98 (double tempo). The first entry at bar 17 is meant to be a surprise. Ensure that the players come right back in volume when they hit the fp. If the rhythm section can produce better samba patterns than the patterns I have written, let them go for it! This needs to be an exciting Latin feel. Use as much percussion as you like here: claves, cowbell, congas etc. The release comes at bar 130. This is back to the tempo and feel as before. The solo sheets are provided so that this chart can be played as an instrumental in case of no vocalist.
