Obs.: This score is an arrangement of the famous 19th century hymn Nearer, my God, to Thee for violin duet (two violins) with piano accompaniment. The Violin I part is to be played in the third position, although it can also be played in the first position if the violinist so desires. The Violin II part uses double stops and is thus to be played by the violin teacher or by a more advanced violinist.
This hymn has become associated with the RMS Titanic, as passengers reported that the string ensemble played it in the final minutes before the vessel sank.
