O Christmas Tree is a German Christmas song. Based on a traditional folk song which was unrelated to Christmas, the tune associated with the traditional Christmas tree by the middle of the 19th century and developed as a Christmas carol. The flexible instrumentation enables a mixture of instruments, from small ensemble to orchestra. Essential fingerings and bowings are provided in the string parts. For instruments of Part 2, 3 and 4, the range is within one octave.
