By Sarah McLachlan. By Randy Newman. Arranged by Sjaak Douma. Film/TV,Jazz,Pop. Score. 3 pages. Sjaak Douma #639354. Published by Sjaak Douma (A0.1034030).

This arrangement starts out with the song's bridge preceding the original intro chords, subtly reharmonized and embellished with countermelodic movement. From here, the verse and chorus melodies sound on top of chorale-like accompaniment figures, further elaborated by a modulation to the dominant (V), and a common-tone modulation to the chromatic submediant (VI). The arrangement's third and final act is treated with a parallel key modulation, offering a darker and somewhat baroque exploration of the verse and outro melodies. Lastly, a Picardy cadence provides a tongue-in-cheek, yet stylistically appropriate ending to this final act.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
