"The Long and Winding Road" is a song composed by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon/McCartney, recorded by the British band The Beatles on their 1970 album Let It Be. It tells the story that Paul wrote it inspired by the winding paths of the B842 road that connects the east coast of Kintyre to the city of Campbeltown, next to a McCartney family estate in Scotland. At the time he wrote it, in 1968, the Beatles were going through a phase of big fights. It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on 13 June 1970. This was the last single in Beatles history to reach number one in the US.
