From his Suite for Variety Stage Orchestra, Shostakovich's Waltz No.2 has become a household sound, with its distinct lilting melody and charming nature. It has been performed by artists around the world, used in Film and TV, and is a regularly aired piece on radio stations. This arrangement gives the opening Saxophone solo to the Flugelhorn, before being passed around the whole band, including the drunken trombone solo!It's a lot more manageable than one would think, with the most difficult passage being at figure O for the Sop, Solo Cornets, Euphonium, and Xylophone.A thoroughly enjoyable tune for both band and audiences alike, I hope you enjoy!- British Style Brass Band- Bass Clef parts available on request.
