Peter Scholtes barrowed a melody called "St. Brendan's" for the popular 20th Century song. It is in a minor mode, somber and suggesting the desire for unity and love. Section A introduces the theme. Section B includes a descant by yours truly. Section C is segued into using a French sixth chord into a major key. Section D then includes more descant. A few measures before the end employs a deceptive cadence before finishing on the tonic.
