When times are easy, we generally have a comfortable hope for our future and for the future of our family and friends. Hope is a projection of emotion and thought toward a better future. It has a positive impact in our lives and the lives of those around us because it leads us to take actions toward a betterment of circumstances. When hope fails or is rejected, we no longer see the future as an improvement. Many things can diminish hope, but fear is perhaps its most powerful adversary. Fear kills hope. Intense, sustained fear also kills many other positive attributes, such as rational thinking, generosity, and even love. TOWARD HOPE presents a kind of musical journey toward optimism and courage. The work is episodic but also developmental, closing with a final bold statement of confidence. – Steve Rouse.
