This set of songs incorporate three of Dickinson's most popular texts, contrasting stylistically from a slow, emotional setting to a light and lilting feel, then back to a fuller and more passionate setting. Feel free to sing #1 and #3 without a strict tempo and with full use of dynamics, rubato and in a romantic style. The second song is playful and dancelike and serves as a “palate-cleanser” from the two serious songs.

It is best to perform the 3 songs as a collection rather than individually.
