Cast in 3 movements that span 25 minutes, VESPERS is a string quartet of and for the 21st century. String Quartet No. 1: VESPERS was composed between 2013 and 2016, and premiered by the Samford String Quartet in February 2016. Since then, the work has been performed numerous times at Auburn University, the Alabama School of Fine Arts, Samford University, and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. Additionally, VESPERS has been featured on radio broadcasts and appeared on two studio recordings: the Amernet Quartet’s double album, _Alabama (MSR Classics, 2020) and the Samford String Quartet’s 2019 independent release, Sacred Music for String Quartet.
