Great Choral Works in Small Scoring

About this collection

Verdi’s Requiem with just 5 players instead of 34? Or Mendelssohn’s Elijah with a chamber orchestra?

The pandemic has shown us how flexible musicians must – and can – be! Sometimes it is necessary to consider alternative scorings for the size of the ensemble, the spatial layout of the performance space, or simply the financial resources. Flexibility is often required.

With Carus-Verlag's arrangements in the “Great Choral Works in Small Scoring” series, it is easy and more economical to perform the great choral works which every choir wants to sing. The series includes works by composers such as Beethoven, Brahms, Bruckner, Mendelssohn, and Verdi, and is constantly being expanded.

Features of this series:

  • More choirs will have the opportunity to perform these large-scale works.

  • Performances can now be programmed with considerably fewer instrumentalists and thus also in smaller performance venues.

  • These arrangements offer a fresh look at well-known and popular works.

  • Vocal scores and choral scores from the original version can be used.
