About Kim Williams
Kim Williams holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Pedagogy from Oklahoma City University. Kim worked in youth ministry for several years and began teaching private piano while working on her second degree from OCU. Inspired by one of her composition instructors, she began composing music at this time and had her first composition published in 1998.
In 1997, Kim accepted a position as coordinator of the group piano program at the University of Central Oklahoma, where she taught for more than three years. She is currently teaching private and group lessons in her home studio during the school year and directs a composition piano camp for her students each summer. She also plays in a praise and worship band during the summer and enjoys sharing her talent in various adult living centers in the area.
Kim has presented workshops on composition to local music associations and has been a featured speaker at the Oklahoma Music Teacher's Association district conference. She is an active member of Music Teacher's National Association, the Oklahoma Music Teacher's Association, and is president elect of the Central Oklahoma Music Teacher's Association.
When asked her favorite part of being an active composer for Alfred Music Publishing Co., Inc., Kim replied, "I just love music! I love to teach and to write music that has the ability to touch a student's life." Her published music with Alfred includes several piano solos and a worship suite entitled Jesus Christ, Friend and Savior.
Kim currently resides in Edmond, Oklahoma with her husband Johnny and their two children, Nathan and Lauren.
